Workshop with IMGG - Afghans in the lead

The institute for Media and Global Governance (IMGG) proposes a two-day brainstorming workshop in Switzerland to elaborate a fresh, more inclusive and pragmatic approach to the future of Afghanistan. Composed of 25-30 experts and observers with direct experience in the field, the first stage will consist of a brainstorming which will explore the non-military, on-the-ground knowledge that has existed since the 1970s, 80s, 90s and 2000s, but has been largely ignored. The second stage will focus on the new emphasis on recovery and development which will increasingly take center stage as the role of international military forces gradually winds down. The brainstorming will be followed up by a workshop for international journalists on the ground in Afghanistan, which will also emphasize recovery and development issues--an aspect overlooked by much of the reporting so far. The overall purpose of the project is to produce concrete recommendations for the next stage of the international community's commitment to Afghanistan. See more...
